In 1820 a work entitled "Tour of Doctor Syntax Through London" was published by J. Johnston. Originally produced in 8 installments it was finally bound as an entity with 3 known issues in 1820. There are 20 illustrations, uncredited, but thought to be by Rowlandson and Cruikshank. The illustrations are weak in comparison with the Ackermann publications. Although original works, and considered by some to be 'Syntax Imitations' they are more difficult to find than the Ackermann prints. In 1820 a work entitled "Tour of Doctor Syntax Through Paris" was published by W. Wright. Although original works, and considered by some to be 'Syntax Imitations' they are more difficult to find than the Ackermann prints. |
